ISSUE 33

First off I need to extend a hearty 'get well, buddy' to my partner in crime, Doug, as it appears he's suffering from something akin to Yellow Fever and has been laid up for a few days. Hey, Doug: if you die can I have your Marvel Essentials collection? Just kidding... I don't want that. Maybe jst your new TV! HA! Anyway, in an effort to boost our stagnant page views and hits (and say, wasn't an issue 33 meltdown predicted way back at the onset? Yeah, let's avoid that, shall we?) I've decided to introduce a new character of sorts and, well, Jump the Shark, as it were. So check it out and let me know what you think! See ya all Monday!

ISSUE 32

I was in a stupid mood last night. That's really all you need to know about this 'dream' comic. My kids laughed, so therefor it's comedy GOLD! See ya!

Well here we are, neck deep into our next what, 20? Fifty will certainly be our next big milestone for sure. But we'd love for each and every one of you to help us make it even to the next 30 by reading daily and commenting as often as you're silly selves desire. And always remember, keep checking our goals on the sidebar to possibly win yourselves a new DVD! Thanks and keep swimming upstream with us!

ISSUE 30 - THE BEERSTRAVAGANZA CELEBRATIO-FESTIVAL!-

Issue 30! Wow, that's some kind f milestone, ya know? Some things have changed, some redesigns have happened, and even a few other speed bumps along the way, but all in all, we here at S.U. have been really pleased with the outcome thus far. And judging by our 2000th view happening some time last night around midnight (I checked), we're still well on our way to building up or viewership and we honestly thank you all! S, enjoy the 'strip' -as it were- and we'll see you tomorrow with the beginning of another 30.

ISSUE 29

--The Strip Is BACK!--

Yeah, even though I never did successfully get my 'drive' up and running, I did, however, rebuild the strip layout and I have to say I really do like it! So, anyway, we're back to stripping (Ha!) and I have a few stroy-line comics under my belt and a few more of my own design to get through the week so I hope you really enjoy them. Also, why you're here check out the new achievement goals in te left plane, as well as a great comic done in a really cool way down at the bottom of the page. Ok, so have a great Monday!

IT'S BEER FRIDAY! GLEE!

So, with the finale of our wee-long homage to Viva La Difference, we feature Beer Friday, an every-other-week extravaganza! Also, as an aside, I have considered starting a blog with my cohort here dedicated to a different beer every week... that sounds fun. Anyway: Beer Friday! Woohoo! Have a great weekend!

S-

PS- I almost forgot! Whomsoever takes our count to 2000 by midnight tonight wins TOM AND JERRY KIDS DVD VOLUME 1! Thats right, another movie only this one on the complete opposite end of the spectrum as last weekend! So step to clickin', folks! Good luck!

IT'S TATTOO TIME!

So, even though I had a little time to redesign the comic strip yesterday, I jut decided to wait for the remainder of the week. It seems I'm really enjoying making these little one-shots and I think the traffic we're piling up -nearly enough to get really close to our Friday Midnight goal of 2000, by the way- is a testament to viva la difference! Now, onto the comic's theme: My wife and I are getting tattoos today and her's is going on the top of her ass. Now, this is her first so she's ready, but obviously not too sure what to expect, unlike myself who has several tat's of his own. Mine's going on my arm. I'll probably post pictures next week when they've healed. Anyway, that's the funny. Enjoy!

WORKING HARD FOR YOU

Okay, so here's what has been happening just in case any of you astute reader out there has any idea of how to remedy this malady: I have an external hard drive made by Maxtor and it seems that the motor that spins the internal workings has, inexplicably, gone to pot. So, on said drive was tons of the following: music and movie files and, most importantly, my comic layout. So, after hours of attempting to diagnose this issue myself, I came t the conclusion that this drive is shot yet the information on board is still, hopefully, in tact. So there ya go. In the meanwhile, until I re-create the comic strip layout, I will bring you funny one shots for a day or two. So if any of you has an idea for repairing my drive woes, contact me via comments. Thanks!

HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY!

Okay, folks, this is not a real issue of Swimming Upstream. What I did was take last issue, erase all the words in paint, put new dialogue in from Publisher and paste it back into paint so I could save it as a .jpg file. It was a bit of a pain, but you, the readers, are so worth it. Our regularly scheduled comic will be back tomorrow. And to all of Stew's artists friends. I did this one on my own so no hassles for using reprinted artwork. Got that? Good!
Have a great Tuesday my little droogies.

THINGS THEY DONE GONE HAYWIRE

I come to you all  a saddened and broken man. It seems that, while getting things transferred to the new laptop, the external drive I use to save all my comics has taken it upon itself to stop working. This of course means that I am unable to retrieve any of my comics that I have done and saved. Now, lest you assume I could just redraw the work all over again, I can't as I have not yet attached my scanner to the new computer. So, for tomorrow, Tuesday, Swimming Upstream will be sans comic until, hopefully, Wednesday. So sorry for the inconvenience, please enjoy our past issues. See ya soon!

THE VALENTINES DAY SUPER SUPERIOR SPECIAL ISSUE

I know, I know, it's a few days early but since we don't normally run a comic on the weekend (especially one where I have major plans to woo and awe my lovely and stunning wife) I figured I'd do it today. Also, since tomorrow is a special day in and of itself, well, there ya go. Now the story behind this is simple: Over at one of the most amazing web comics ever (Girls With Slingshots: see link on the left plane), Danielle Corsetto has offered up her toon hottie, Jamie, for a day-long date. So, being the artist I am, I drew this pic up right quick and sent it to her. Hoping beyond hope that my toon self wins, just for the exposure of our strip, I figured I'd post the submission so you can see how it looks while Danielle leafs through her piles and piles of e-mails. Hope along with me, won't you? And no: my toon self is as completely not unfaithful as it's human counterpart... me, it's just for a larf. Also, my wife, Amy, looks a bit like Jamie only with blond hair yet the same, *ahem* assets. So, there ya go. Hope ya like it and Happy Valentines Day! Show some love to your sweeties!

I Voted For Nader.

Nuff said.

ISSUE 27

Okay, so I admit I'm straying from the story a bit here, but it's for a good reason. I watched President Obama speak on Monday night taking questions on everything from the as-yet unpassed Economic Stimulus Package to A-Rod's admission of steroid use in 2003, and it was the latter eloquently answered that really made me realize just how damn cool President Obama really is. So, let us all suspend disbelief for just a moment, and pretend this happened... One can dream, right?

ISSUE 26

I honestly can't think of anything to share with you... JUST KIDDING! WE HIT 1000! Just outstanding! I could take each of you and personally shake your hands, or paws, or fins, or whatever, I'm so overjoyed! Now, if you all can push us to 1500 by Friday -a lofty goal to be sure- I believe we can work out an arrangement where the 1500th viewer will receive a SPECIAL GIFT (AS YET DETERMINED). So, this means that from now on if you're stopping by to read you MUST LEAVE A COMMENT so we can determine what number you all are... or at least close enough. And remember: you can re-view the page as often as you like (so, the more you click, the higher the number goes) and you could be the winner! So get to it, folks! Have fun!

ISSUE 25

Happy new week, all! Welcome to our BRAND SPANKIN NEW STORY LINE! See, this is the best part of getting my weekly scripts on Sunday; I can look ahead and see just how funny these things are! And trust me: they're GOLD! Anyway, even though we didn't quite reach our 1000 goal, we got close enough and since I believe in horseshoes and hand grenades, I did put your posters up! Now this also means that we need an additional 50 by this coming Friday, so remember to tell EVERYONE YOU KNOW, LOVE, SEE, LIVE NEXT TO, OR JUST RUN INTO ON THE SUBWAY about our comic! Something else might be in store for next week... possibly a give away? Hmm... we'll see. Anyway, enjoy!

THE FREE POSTERS

Well, I am in a giving mood today even though we didn't quite reach 1000 by Friday midnight, it looks pretty possible to do it by Monday, so: HERE'S YOUR FREE POSTERS! Yeah, that's right, it's all because of you readers that we're even as close as you are. So, enjoy! I have 2 sizes of each for ya: 720 x 480 and 1280 x 720, so that ought to help out. Or, you can always adjust the sizes in any random design program. Hope ya like 'em! See ya Monday! And thanks again!

ISSUE 24

And here we are folks: a new story line to END ALL STORY LINES! What is this W.A.S.U., you ask? Well, I don't have any idea... or do I? No, no I don't. That's kind of up to my writer. Anyway, since we're only about a hundred or so off from our thousand goal (THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!) I will be posting the 2 FREE POSTERS in a bevy of sizes for you all to use at your leisure. So, have a great weekend and stop back tomorrow for your well-earned FREEBIES!

S-

PS- I am, officially, a moron. That little word up there, "aloud", yeah, it should be "allowed". Crap on a cracker. Oh well. At least it's still funny, right? RIGHT? *crickets*

HOWDY ALL!

Doug here. I'm gald to see that the reboot of the series is being viewed by lots and lots of people. Hopefully, we will make those numbers that Stew put up over to your left. Next week's comics is neat for me as it actually focuses on one subject for the whole week. It will be set up tomorrow and then go all next week. I think it's pretty funny, but what do I know?
It's my first week trying this so be gentle people.
Thanks again for reading the strip.
Fun Fact: It seems that yesterday people found the fossilized remains of a snake that is as long a s a city bus. Apparently it ate crocdiles for food. That is one big snake!
Hmmmmm, I wonder if Stew can draw a big snake?

ISSUE 23

I ask you: who, mind you 'who', doesn't like a good 'boobies' joke? I will also answer that: you'll find out tomorrow. So, that incentive alone ought to make you want to hang around till Friday, right? And if our counter over there is any indication, it seems some of you have taken our little request to heart because it looks like we could hit 1000 by tomorrow midnight (my just created cut off point) Keep it up and thanks a TON!

ISSUE 22

Yes, I brought back a joke from a few strips ago, but I happen to believe that this one is far more effective especially with the new artwork. As you stop by to read and look at the pretty pictures, please check out our little message over on the left plane about our strip goals. Remember: it's a win-win since you could, potentially,, get some free wallpaper or printable artwork out of it while we get the numbers! Ya know ya love FREE artwork! Enjoy!

ISSUE 21

Man, I have to tell you just how much happier I am with my new style of artwork! It looks so much better and I have a far better time doing it. I really hope you all like it as much as I do. And, just so you know, this week's scripts are primo and just keep getting funnier. Enjoy!

ISSUE 20 - A NEW BEGINNING

After conversing with my writer and the other 50% of the 'S.U. Team', we both decided that taking the artwork (as well as the pointless inside jokes) in a new direction was for the best. We want nothing more than to bring you all the highest quality in cartoons ad writing. We hope you'll agree that things look much better. So, with that, welcome to the ALL NEW SWIMMING UPSTREAM!

ISSUE 19 - THE SUNDAY COLOR FUNNIES

Well, here we are: A Sunday strip! And, before I even move on here, I have to openly apologize to my writer and partner, Doug as this issue isn't exactly (and by exactly I mean at all) what he wrote. The reason why is simple: I'm unhappy with the direction my artwork is going and it needs to be addressed before my own personal integrity issues get compromised any more. No, this has nothing to do with the writing and nothing to do at all with Doug, this is all a personal matter. Now I believe that the direction I have decided to steer the artwork in this comic will not only benefit you, the audience, but us here behind the scenes as well. So, to that end, please enjoy our Sunday strip and come back this Monday for something new and different. Thanks for listening.
